Family Law Navigator

Visit the Family Law Navigator website to learn about supports for individuals with children at any stage of separation or divorce.  You can also use the self-navigation tool to learn about free services that can help.  You don't have to manage your family change alone.

The Family Law Navigator provides wrap-around support for individuals with a child(ren) at any stage of separation or divorce. The Navigator connects individuals with the resources they need.

The Navigator is neutral, meaning that they do not take sides. As a family’s situation and needs change, the Navigator can continue to provide step-by-step support.

What type of services will the Family Law Navigator provide?

First, the Navigator meets with individuals one-on-one to gather information about their needs. Then, depending on the situation, the Navigator provides:

  • Information about programs and support services.
  • Referrals to appropriate services within and outside the Family Law Centre.
  • Collaboration with other services to provide wrap-around support for families.
  • Neutral assistance to help individuals experiencing family violence access out-of-court services.
  • Continuing support as a family’s situation changes.

The Navigator does not provide:

  • Legal advice, including suggestions on what legal steps to take.
  • Assistance with court forms, including instructions on which forms to use or revision of forms.
  • Services that are provided by other programs (for example, child support guidance, parenting plan development, or safety plan support).

Is there a fee for this service?
