About Prince Edward Home

Prince Edward Home is a 120-bed long-term care facility located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

There are 10 households (Blue Heron, Blue Jay Way, Fox Meadow, Lighthouse Cove, Red Oak Heights, Sunrise Place, Valour Hall, Red Rock Inn, Lupin Valley and Lady Slipper Path), each with 12 residents. Every household has a kitchen, dining room, sun room and a living room available to residents and family. Each resident has their own private room and washroom.

Two respite beds are available at Prince Edward Home.

In addition to general long-term care services, the home provides a variety of specialized care. An ‘under 65’ population care service is provided for younger individuals with various levels of physical and cognitive disabilities requiring care for needs that cannot be met in the community. Additionally, a care program is available for people in need of long-term care dementia services.

For further information about the facility, view the Prince Edward Home Resident Handbook.

What is the admission process?

You or your loved one’s individual care needs will be evaluated through a standard health assessment.
Generally, there are three types of service:

  1. Short-term – for respite, to provide short-term relief to caregivers.
  2. Long-term – for permanent care, however, individuals can be discharged if their condition improves and they so desire.
  3. Day residents – delivered by Home Care, individuals can come to the home for services, as needed. For example: century tub baths, meals, day program, etc.

For further information on the assessment process, eligibility and cost, please visit Long-Term Care or contact the Long Term Care Admissions Coordinator by calling the Home Care Office at 902-368-4790. For financial questions or arrangements, contact the Long-Term Care Subsidy Program at 902-368-5313.
