Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) Advisory Board

The Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) Advisory Board provides advice and makes recommendations to the Government of Prince Edward Island on the application of Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion principles to the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and programs.

What is the function of the organization?

 The GEDI Advisory Board:

  • Provides input on the needs of under-served communities in Prince Edward Island (PEI);  
  • Advises on methods for cultivating safe, inclusive, and equitable spaces within PEI; and 
  • Advises on opportunities to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the policies, programs, and services of the Government of PEI.

How many people are on the Board? 

The GEDI Advisory Board membership is made up of a maximum of eight members with a broad range of personal, social, and cultural identities. The Government of PEI will be represented by two ex-officio members. 

What are the requirements of organization members?

Anyone can apply to be part of the GEDI Advisory Board; however, preference will be given to those:

  • Who identify as a member of an under-served or systemically excluded group(s);
  • Who have an in-depth knowledge of the needs of, and barriers faced by, marginalized groups in PEI; and/or
  • Who have experience with community-serving organizations in PEI.

What is the time commitment?

The Board meets at least three times per year. Board appointments are for up to a two-year term with the possibility of re-appointment to a second term. 

Will I get paid?

Members receive $73 per meeting. The Chairperson receives $113 per meeting. Members will be reimbursed for the expenses incurred to participate fully in meetings including travel and caregiver expenses.
