The Employment Standards Comprehensive Review Panel will be responsible for completing a comprehensive review of the Employment Standards Act.

What is the function of the panel?

The Panel is being established to complete a comprehensive review of the Employment Standards Act as well as its associated regulations. The Panel will be tasked with completing two phases of consultations, as well as writing an interim and final report. The final report will make recommendations to the Minister on changes to employment standards in the Province.  

Primary Role: Advisory

How many people are on the panel?

The panel will be comprised of a chairperson and two side panel members. One of the side-panel members will be a representative for employers and the other a representative for employees. The side panel members will be selected from applicants who have applied through Engage PEI.

What are the requirements of the board members?

Work & Experience Requirements

The employer representative will be selected from applicants who have experience as an employer and an understanding of the issues employers face when it comes to employment standards. Previous volunteer or work experience in a consultation process is considered an asset.

Skills Required

Sound judgment and an ability to be impartial.

Will I get paid?

The side panel members will receive an honourarium for days worked as well as be eligible for reimbursement of certain expenses, such as mileage.

Members - $142/diem.

What is the time commitment?

Appointment to the panel will not be equivalent to full-time work, however there may be weeks during which the panel will be required to host several public-consultation sessions. Members should be available for meetings and consultation sessions during the day and/or evening.
