Spidel, Mark

Mark Spidel assumed the responsibility of Deputy Minister of Health and Wellness on May 10th, 2019.  Prior to this, Spidel was Deputy Minister of Family and Human Services after a public service career dedicated to serving the well-being of Islanders. As Director of social programs he led the transformation of PEI’s Social Assistance and Accessibility Support programs. Mr. Spidel has over 15 years experience in the field of health. He has served as Deputy Minister of Family and Human Services, Health PEI's Chief Information Officer, as Director of Health Information and held positions at various levels of responsibility at both the provincial and regional levels. A published health researcher, Mr. Spidel holds a Masters of Science from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Prince Edward Island. He has served on many national and provincial boards tackling health and social causes.

Mr. Spidel is a proud dad and husband and lives with his young family in Stratford.
